I wanted to share my story of Mrs. Ross and her impact on me.   When I first joined her kindergarten class, it was immediately evident that she loved teaching and getting to know each one of us.  You always felt loved in Mrs Ross and Mrs West’s kindergarten class.
There was a day sometime within the fall that I was one of the last to be picked up for the day.  As there was just a few of us left in class,  Mrs Ross had found a chance to sit at a desk and go over some paperwork.  She appeared deep in thought, and I guess in my young 5 year old mind, she looked like she needed some cheering up.    It’s very likely that we had probably discussed being kind to others that day.    In any regards, I remember going over to her and patting her on the shoulder and trying to say encouragingly, “Mrs Ross, It’s just one of those days.”   When she looked up, it was obvious that I caught her deep in thought, but she was quick to smile that famous Mrs Ross smile.  And all these years later, I now realize that she was so quick to understand that a little 5 year old must have saw something that he thought he needed to act on, and she used that moment to teach love like she always did.   She smiled so warmly at me and said, “Monty, thank you! It IS just one of those days-and this day is special because you are my friend”.  She gave me a big hug and a big smile, and that has stayed in my heart forever.
But the story did not end there.   For years after that, even through my college years at ASU, anytime I happened to run into Mrs Ross-at graduations, church, the grocery store,-   We always exchanged OUR phrase with each other:  “It’s just one of those days!”   We’d both say it with the biggest smile and laugh.  That moment in kindergarten turned into a life long celebration every time I happened to see my beloved kindergarten teacher out and around town.    The phrase itself became a celebration, because “It’s just One of those days” became a phrase of joy in seeing a friend.   

Mrs. Ross was a dear sweet Christian lady and a great example for all who encountered her!  She taught both my sister(Kathy)and I in Sunday School at Harris Avenue and I will always remember how special she made me feel!  She was also good friends with my mom and dad, Edwin and Frances Garner.  I am thankful to have known her! I know she is rejoicing in heaven with the angels now.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

Mrs Ross was one of my kindergarten teachers at Harris Avenue Baptist Church. Her & Mrs West were my very favorite. I loved her & have thought of her often throughout the years. She made an incredible impression upon me & my relationship with Christ. my love & heartfelt condolences go out to the family. She was a true blessing.

What a wonderful woman of God.  I am living proof of what a little encouragment can do for someone.  Because of Alice I play the organ/piano at church.  When I was younger everytime we would go to the parsonage at Lake View Baptist, she would encourage met to sit down and play their piano.  Even as I got older, everytime I would see her, the smile and warmth was so genuine and you knew that she truly loved you.  She will be missed, but the crowns she will receive from Jesus will be many.  Love and sympathy to the whole family.

Alice was a very sweet and loving person.  She always had compliments for me every time I saw her.  I remember her giving me a Bible with pictures when I was five years old for memorizing all the books of the Bible.  I will never forget it and told her in January at Monte's concert.  We sat with her and I took a picture of my Mother and her together and I will treasure that photo forever.

So sorry to learn of Ms Ross' passing.  Everyone in the family is my thoughts and prayers.

Alice was one of the kindest and sweetest people I have ever known.  Since I was a small child, she has always was so warm, loving, and kind towards my brother, Lance and me.  She was truly a living example of the love of Jesus...and I remember her talking a lot about Jesus.  I remember her since my early childhood and attending one of her Kindergarten classes that she taught.  As I grew older, she continued to be an inspiration and a wonderful example of what a dedicated loving Christian should be.  And you never saw Alice without her smiling at you!  She had such a kind and gentle spirit about her that was just magnetic.  It was just wonderful to be around her and engage in conversation.  I remember being on a mission trip to Brazil with Alice and how much fun it was just to sit and talk to her and learn from her.  She once told me that after she gave her heart to the Lord, she never had any doubts about her salvation from then on...she was such a strong person of faith...one for us all to look to as an example.  When I saw her the last time in the hospital, she opened her eyes and said my name, and then, "dear friend"...and closed her eyes again.  Even while she was nearing the end of the earthly life, she was still the loving, warm, Alice that we have known for so long.  What a blessing to us she was and will continue to be.  As sad as I am to lose her from this world, I am so glad she is happy and rejoicing now!  And knowing Alice, she would not want us to be sad...she would want us all to carry on and to love people to Jesus.  That was her life and we can continue that as she would want us to....what a dear and wonderful lady.

Bryan and Alice Ross were the "Real Thing". The lived what they spoke. On our first mission trip to Peru, they overwhelmed us with an unsolicited gift to use as we saw fit. They loved Jesus and served him all of their lives. What ever Heaven holds, this kind, generous, loving couple who served Jesus to the best of their ability, will enjoy for eternity.

I just learned of your Mother's passing.  I never knew a sweeter lady than Alice.  She always spoke so sweetly, and you could feel her love for the Lord every time you talked to her.  How wonderful to know she is reaping her rewards now in our Heavenly home.  I remember as a young child, being in "Sunbeams", a precious children's class she taught on Wednesday evenings at Lake View Baptist Church.  I still sing that little song in my heart, "I'll Be a Sunbeam for Jesus!"  Thank you Alice for teaching me the love of God.  I will always treasure the fond memories of going home to play with Charlotte on some Sundays after church.  Sometimes we would sit at the kitchen counter and Alice, who was so creative, would make play-dough for us...what fond memories. And, Alice always had carrots in her refrigerator and never forgot how much I loved them. A few years ago, she gave me a lovely hand-made card with a little carrot drawn on it, along with a carrot pin to wear. It said, "To my Carrot-Lovin' Friend..." I will treasure this gift forever, to remind me of my dear friend Alice Ross.  I am thankful I got to see Alice for a moment in the hospital a few weeks ago.  She will always hold a very special place in my heart. Charlotte and family, you will remain in my prayers, that God will give you peace and comfort, and surround you with His Everlasting Love.

I met Alice in the later years of her life. She and I shared a common love for JESUS. She and I loved to talk about Him. And now she is with Him. How wonderful. She always seemed to be interested in my life. She even came to my husbands funeral. Oh Alice, I will remember you all the days of my life.

I had the PLEASURE of being taught by Mrs. Ross at Harris Avenue Baptist Church (she also taught my older sister and my younger brother).  She always followed me in my endeavors and would send me cards after reading my name in the paper for either sports or academics. I remember when I graduated from High School, she sent me a card that brought tears to my eyes.  She will be missed greatly but the memories she brought to so many will last a lifetime!

Mrs. Ross was our son Matthew's Kindergarten teacher along with her dear friend Mrs. West at Harris Avenue Baptist daycare and preschool.  She was a wonderful teacher for our son.  She always said she would like to take him home to live with her and that made him feel so special and loved.  I'm glad we will be able to rejoice together in heaven one day. She made a real difference in his life and I will always be thankful for that.

She and her husband were leading our church in Slaton when I was a small child,  I have the fondest memories of them.  Sandra Harris Swan

Mrs. Ross was my Kindergarten teacher in 1975 and was truly an inspiration to me!  The book All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergartnen comes to mind as she taught us not only the 4 R's but also to have good character and always be a caring person.  I went on to become a Kindergarten teacher myself and I will forever have fond memories of Mrs. Ross!  Condolences to the family!

I am sorry for your loss. I only knew her though a couple of phone conversation when calling to talk to Mr Brian about family history.

Alice was my 2nd cousin 1X removed that I never knew I had until about 6-8 years ago.  It has been a real highlight for me to get to know Alice & Bryan via email over the years as we've researched our family ties.  I never had the opportunity to meet Alice & Bryan, but I feel as though I've always known them.  I still have the email that I received from their first contact, and their friendship has been a real treasure.  I'm so grateful to have found them, and I treasure the notes and photos they have shared with me over the years. Alice was a dear lady, and it's reassuring to know she is no longer suffering and is with our precious Lord.

Dear Family, I was so sorry to hear about Mrs. Ross.  Her obituary describes her exactly.  She was always smiling, encouraging and had the warmth that made you feel special.  From my early days as a child until the last few years each time we met I left her feeling better than before.  She just had that effect on people.  I count her as special also because my mom, Myra Gotcher, loved her so and Alice loved her...as she did so many people.  The love of Christ just flowed through her onto everyone she encountered.  Don't you know heaven is rejoicing!  May God continue to bless each of you and bring you comfort.

I would like to share with the Ross children how much your mother meant to me. She touched my life in so many ways. She taught me in kindergarten and lead me to Christ. I will never forget her and Bryan. They will always have a special place in my heart.

While we didn't see Aunt Lottie or Alice very often, they were high on our list of favorite relatives. I know Aunt Lottie was waiting to greet Alice with open arms.

Mrs. Ross was always very kind to me. She was one of the few adults I knew growing up who listened to me and seemed interested in what I had to say. I will always remember her fondly. God bless her family.

Alice Ross was the sweetest, most encouraging Christian lady i've ever known. She taught my Sunday school class and later I helped her in 3rd grade Sunday school class. She also taught my daughter Shelly in kindergarten. I know heaven is smiling, but she will be sorely missed.

We are so sorry to hear about Alice.  She and Bryan were dedicated to the work of the Lord.  We worked together in the Big Spring Baptist Association.  We gave Bryan a key to our house so he could rest and study when he had to stay over for an evening meeting.  Alice would come along with him lot of times. She will be dearly missed

How thankful I am that Alice and Bryan were a part of our lives. Even more thankful are we that throughout eternity that fact will remain a truth. We already miss her sweet smile and encouraging word. Whether in Brazil or San Angelo Alice was always the same, and the fullness of Christ simply shone through. She has folded her tent now, her race has been won and I am sure that she will receive that crown of glory reserved for those who truly allow Christ to live in and through them.

My profound condolence to Ms Charlotte Bagh on the passing of her sweet mother Alice Ross. Charlotte you have to be strong at this difficult time of your mother's passing. You have to take heart in that God has given and he has taken because he is the author and perfecter of our faith. Don't forget that the bitterness of death is past as such be strong and celebrate the life that she once lived. We all Love you and we pray that God will give you the fortitude to bear her loss. Be strong in the Lord. May her soul rest in perfect peace.

My condolences to the family.  I consider Alice a good friend, and I feel truly blessed to have known her.

To The Ross Family:  Mrs. Ross was the most amazing lady!  She taught my son in kindergarten and was his biggest cheerleader even into his later years of school.  She never forgot her students and always remembered the little things.  She had the kindest heart and I know you must have been so proud to call her Mom!  Heaven is a great place right now with Mrs. Ross, Mrs. West and Mrs. Daniels.  What a great reunion.

Mrs. Ross taught me how to write my name years and years ago when  I was in her kindergarten class at Harris Ave. Baptist Church. Even into college, Mrs. Ross kept up with me cutting out every newspaper clipping that ever bore my name. My mother tells me that Mrs. Ross asked about me every time the two of them ran into each other. What an incredible Christian woman, mother, and teacher. I have wonderful memories of my great aunt's visits to the Cook ranch when I was a child such as making our silhouettes and her black light displays but most of all was her warm smile. She was so generous with her smiles. We will miss her dearly.

What a happy reunion is underway with Alice and Bryan sitting togeather at the feet of Jesus forever. Bryan was my mother's nephew. My mother was Ethel Lee Peak Miller and I remember visits to and from Uncle John Ross and family in my early years. As years passed, we lost touch with each other but recently, thanks to the internet, Bryan and I reconnected with each other and through e-mails and telephone calls kept in touch until his passing. I thank God for this loving couple and what they meant to me in recent years.
My prayers are with each of you who are left to await your reunion with Bryan and Alice at the Lord's calling.   God bless you all.

I have so many special memories of Aunt Alice...especially my time with her in kindergarten.  I remember skipping around the room while she played songs on the piano, helping her set the table for snack and going to the park with her.  She was such a sweet lady and her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by many.

I will certainly miss my sweet Aunt Alice...her lovely smile and genuine demeaner.

I never knew a more kind and loving lady than Alice Ross.  I met her during a very difficult time of personal growth as I was beginning my music ministry.  I led the music for revival in Brian and Alice's church during the simultaneous revivals held in Texas in the spring of 1986.  As I recall I stayed in their home.  They, especially Alice, could not have been more kind, loving, and supportive.  She was a very dear lady and, even though distant from me in recent years, will always hold a special place in my heart.

I have many good memories of your Mother.  She was a gracious and lovely lady always.
