Allen Guy Felts, Jr. passed away peacefully at the Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake, Texas on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at the age of 89. Allen was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on August 11, 1931 to Genevieve and Allen Felts. Growing up in Houston, Texas, Allan graduated from Lamar High School in 1949 and enlisted in the Marine Corp. He met his loving wife Marie Therese Sturman and married on July 1, 1950. Allen and Theresa, as he called her, had three children; Allen, Angela and Patricia. While raising his young family, Allen put himself through college at the University of Houston and graduated in 1959 with an Electrical Engineering Degree.
Allen worked 31 years at Flour Daniel in Houston. During those years, his work took him all over the world including projects in Venezuela, Kuwait, England, Greece, Portugal, The Netherlands, Indonesia, Borneo, Iran and Saudi Arabia, to name a few. Allen and Theresa traveled extensively together to many countries during his time at Fluor and enjoyed this time immensely. During his time away from work, Allen was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed playing Bridge.
After retirement, Allen and Theresa moved to Galveston Island and enjoyed eight years of island life and many get togethers with their family, children and grandchildren. In 2005, due to health reasons, Allen and Theresa moved to Big Lake, Texas to be closer to their daughter Angela. Theresa passed shortly after their move in 2006, and Allen continued to live at home. He enjoyed being part of his community, playing Bridge with friends, going to Trailblazers, and attending First United Methodist Church.
The last year and a half of Allen's life was spent in the Reagan County Care Center where he loved playing bingo with other residents.
Allen is preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa; his parents, Genevieve Bunch and Allen Felts; Grandmother, Flora Johnson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lawrence and Juanita Sturman, and his in-laws, whom he dearly loved, Harold and Marie Sturman.
Survivors include his son, Allen Felts (Darlene) of Brady, Texas; Angela Dodd (Sammy) of Big Lake, Texas, and Patricia Sturbenz (Jerry) of Needville, Texas. Allen is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and one special niece Karen Mitchell (Gene) of Wink, Texas.
