Our beloved mother Ann Kathryn (Gerbert) Feist was called home by the Lord on July 14, 2022. She was 85 years young and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Ann was born in Searcy, Arkansas to Edward and Josephine Gerbert. The family settled in Alpine, Texas where Ann attended Alpine High School. During her 4 years at Alpine High, she was elected President, Secretary & Sweetheart of the Future Teachers of America. She also participated in Future Homemakers of America, Debate, Student Council, and on the staff of the El Toro school paper and school annual. After high school she attended Sul Ross State University where she met and married Paul Felix Feist, Jr. They had 4 daughters and lived in many cities in Texas, Georgia and Tennessee as Paul was manager of several W.T. Grant Department Stores over the years. They moved to San Angelo, Texas and finally settled in Wall, Texas. It was here they raised their daughters and attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Ann worked for Shannon Hospital for many years until she retired. She was an active member of the St Ambrose Altar Society and Church Choir, also enjoying many events held at the church, such as the annual church festival for which she loved to make crafts and bake wonderful food and desserts.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years and her darling daughter Peggy Ann Feist; her parents and her brother Paul Gerbert of Pecos, Texas; along with many other family members who have gone to their rest in the peace of Christ.
Ann “Nana” as she was affectionately known to all her grandchildren is survived by her daughters, Kathy Braden, Debbie Gauna, and Paula Urban and husband Steve Urban; grandchildren, Genna Braden and husband Matthew Morgan, Danielle Gauna, Aaron Feist, Aiden and Jackson Urban; great grandchildren Maddox and Lennox Morgan.
She is also survived by her sister Betty Pattillo and her brothers John Gerbert and Robert Gerbert and wife Gradene. Sister-in-laws Virginia Niehues, Johnnie Mae Stice and Cathy Feist. Brother-in-Laws Nolan Niehues and James Feist, along with many nieces and nephews.
A memory that warms our hearts and comforts us now is remembering our mother’s beautiful soprano voice. She sang all the time, in the kitchen, in the car or wherever she was, songs or just little jingles she made up or popular ones of the time. She also sang to the Lord in the choir at St. Ambrose Catholic Church for many years.
Open visitation will be held on Thursday July 21, 2022 at Johnson's Funeral Home from 8 am to 8 pm. Funeral mass will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00 am. Rosary will begin 30 minutes before service at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.

She was a sweet, loving and patient mother, because we girls gave her a run for her money. Her songs, her little sayings and her dry sense of humor will be remembered by us always. We know she sleeps in the peace of Christ and we will all be united one day in his Kingdom. Amen.
