

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Sunday, April 22nd at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Knickerbocker. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, April 23rd at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Graveside with Military honors will follow at the Knickerbocker Community Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Bernabe was born April 1, 1931 in Knickerbocker, Texas on the Tweedy Ranch.
Barney served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked in the sheriff’s department, was a skilled master craftsman, cabinet maker and an artisan in many areas.
Dad was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. Dad never met a stranger; his warm friendly smile, strong hand shakes, big heart and great sense of humor will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernabe and Manuela Martinez, his loving wife of 46 years Amelia Obledo Martinez, his two brothers Eli and Paul Martinez and son-in-law Gilbert Rueda.
Barney is survived by one sister Cruz Castillo and husband Roy; his children Yolanda Rueda of Brackettville, Barney Martinez IV, Armando Martinez both of San Angelo, Margaret Martinez and husband Peter Gibbs of Colorado, Melinda Martinez and Truman Hornsby of Lake Tahoe and Sylvia Martinez of Mertzon and his five grandchildren that he truly adored Tres, Garon and Icela Rueda, Austin and Asa Martinez.
Pallbearers will be Richard Ramirez, Roger Rodriguez, Eduardo Franco, Jr., Billy Martinez, Sam Fesperman and Ricky Miranda. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Torres, Charles Martinez, Jerry Ramirez, Cecil Fesperman and special friend’s, whom were unable to attend, Eion and Mary Castles of New Zealand.
