

Betty Joyce Galyon, 76, of San Angelo passed away at her home on April 8, 2011. She began her journey through life on March 1, 1935 in Rotan, Tx. Betty was a diligent worker throughout her life within many varied fields and was a prominent entrepreneur.
Her working life seemed to always bring her into the bookkeeping field. In 1980 she completed her education with a BBA from Angelo State University, and continued on to complete her CPA exams. During her working career in San Angelo she was employed at GTE, several accounting firms, and several banking establishments. She retired as VP of Trust Operations at Texas Commerce Bank. After her retirement she continued her entrepreneur endeavors as co-owner, with her late husband Robert Galyon, and then owner of Yellow Cab Co. until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Galyon; and granddaughter, Cristi Edmonson. Betty is survived by her sons: Duane Edmonson and wife, Sharon; Dale Edmonson; and daughter Carla Edmonson Ahlsted and husband Donny; brothers: Bill Payne and wife Edith; Donnie Payne and wife Barbara; and her sister Bobbie Payne Fritz and husband Richard. Betty also leaves behind her grandchildren Ricky Ahlsted and wife Shellie, Brian Ahlsted and wife Sara, and Candice Edmonson Budzinski and husband Michael, his son Lane. Surviving great-grandchildren are Tiffani, Brianna and Tyler Ahlsted; Dayton and Kylie Barnes; Alexis, Jordan, Ryan and Riley Woodall. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews, and great nieces spread across Texas. Additionally, Betty is survived by her extended family of employees from Yellow Cab Co.
The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo and their employees for their care and concern through her illness.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
