I searched Professor Terrell to let him know my husband, Bill LaVanier, passed away, and found that he had preceded him.  Bill got his law degree at South Texas and worked for Prof. Terrell while there.  His time spent doing that was his most cherished memory of law school. They're together again.

I met Buford about 50 years ago in Lubbock.  He helped with some legal matters and worked miracles with IRS. I loved his wit and wisdom.

This is very sad news. Buford enlightened me in many ways concerning drug law. One of his analyses was the starting of a long piece I wrote on my drug blawg. I'm sorry I didn't have a closer relationship w him while he was with us.

Buford was a good friend and a champion for peace and justice. The world is just a little less without Buford in him any longer. I will miss you Buford.

It's been almost 20 years since Buford, Al Robison and I began to  host a small TV show, Drugs,  Crime and Politics,  with the help of many DPFT volunteers.

Over the years Buford often educated us and presented interesting points of view.  From time to time Buford and I had  disagreements and differing  perspectives, yet in all those years there was  never a harsh word spoken between us.
 
I will deeply miss his constant support, wisdom and dry wit.

Over the past year or more he was philosophical about the coming end and growing weary of fighting the pain. Buford was not a religious man but he  was full of decency, compassion and a commitment to  justice. He left knowing he had touched many of us and that he had fought the good fight until the end.

Buford Terrell became my friend through Drug Policy Forum of Texas. I liked and admired him. He will be missed by many.
