Catherine Janet Gaffney

Catherine “Sister Girl” Janet Gaffney, 65, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at a local hospital. She was born in San Angelo, Tx., on December 28, 1948 and graduated in 1967. She worked as a nurse aide for 25 years. She had the biggest heart and would open her doors for anyone who needed aide. And she was a member of New Light Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father: Margie Mae Mitchell and Cecil Bundage. Two sisters: Margie Nell Mitchell and Beatric Mitchell.

Catherine is survived by sons; William Hollis, Timothy Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell, and Zane Mitchell, all of San Angelo. Two brothers; Claude Wayne Mitchell, his wife Corliss and Oliver Ray Mitchell, all of Fresno, CA. An Aunt; Ossie Thomas of San Angelo. Two Uncles; Raymond Mitchell of Hobbs, NM and James Mitchell of Waco, TX. Also included are 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, along with a whole host of cousins and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Tenesia Judy for all the hard work.

The family will have a visitation from 6- 8 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 with Rev. John Pope officiating.
