Gloria, Just found out of Mr Simon's passing and I am sadden by the news. He was a wonderful man, with a wealth of knowledge and to this day I still marvel how he managed to type on the old Underwood typewriter using only two fingers and not make a mistake. The first time I met him, he said "my name is Dale Simons, with one "M", he scared me!!!!, we continued to work together for about 20 years. So many years have gone by since Timely Finance, good men like Mr. Simons, Mr. Evans, Mr. Gunter and Stanley I was truly blessed. I grew up with these men as my mentors and I loved them all. Gods blessings to you and Melissa.

Beth and I were truly saddened to see Dale's picture in the paper, but the grin in that picture made it impossible to keep from smiling back at him. Our old RV group has almost disappeared by now, but the memories still bring a smile.  Gloria, I'm stuck in the hospital myself at the moment, but our thoughts will be with you and yours tomorrow as Dale is laid to honored rest. Dale was the most level headed First Sergeant I've ever known.  A good friend and we'd share a draft on a Saturday afternoon and have a good  
laugh on whatever subject came to mind.
 I'm hoping to be at the service Sat, health and weather permitting. Gloria  you were his "Gal" for sure and he will be missed.  Wish we had not really lost touch over the years but there is always the memories and the occasional meeting out shopping.  My deepest sympathy to you and the family. Dale, what would I say to you that has not already been said? First off, you are one in a million. A true gem. A genuine patriot who served our country with pride and distinction. I was fortunate enough to meet you at Timely Finance many moons ago. Because of your keen eye for quality, I ended up spending a few pennies here and there over the years or we traded "this for that". I was fortunate to have known you as my friend since 1988. I always enjoyed visiting with you at your regular table in the Coliseum, seeing you at the base or listening to your wealth of knowledge on everything from "A to Z". You always had a grin, joke or kind word to offer others. On the other side of the coin, you ALWAYS asked me about my wife and how she was doing or when you saw her at the BX you'd ask her to tell me "Hello". You were always a true gentlemen. I will miss you my friend and think fondly of you whenever I see an M1 Garand, British Enfield or 100 round VietNam "bring back" M-16 drum. No one else would, but you and I understand the connection. My condolences to Dale's wife and family for your deep loss. This world will be far less colorful without Dale. I salute you, Senior Master Sergeant Simons! And I thank you Dale for your years of genuine friendship and many great memories. See you on the other side at the perpetual gun show. I hope they have a Veterans discount.
