Elmeta Marie Meeks

Elmeta Marie Meeks, 87, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Big Spring, Texas. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 23, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Bumpus officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Elmeta was born April 17, 1924 in Comstock, Texas to Delbert and Ethel Cason Herring. She grew up in Ft. Stockton area and after high school attended San Angelo Junior College. She started working for Bell Telephone as an operator and later worked for GTE and retired from there after over 30 years of service. Elmeta was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted herself to her family. She also loved to collect all kinds of porcelain and crystal figurines. Elmeta was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William “Bill” Meeks. She is survived by her loving family, Sons, Darrell Deemer and his wife, Sherry, of McKinney, TX, Dwayne Deemer, of San Angelo and Dennis Deemer and his wife, Lena, of San Angelo; “Special Daughters,” Tiffany Deemer-Goad and her husband Bobby, of Big Spring, TX., and Danielle Guidry and her husband Chuck, of Big Spring, TX; 9 Grandchildren; and numerous Great Grandchildren. Donations may be made to a favorite charity.
