Emil William Esensee, Jr., of San Angelo, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 4th, 2021, at the age of 91. He was born on May 6th, 1929, in Fredericksburg, Texas to Emil and Frieda Kannamier Esensee. Mr. Esensee served in the US Army from 1949 to 1951. Emil moved to San Angelo in 1969 and he began his 43 year career at Lone Star Gas where he retired as a supervisor. He married his wife Francene in November of 2008.
Emil was a proud member of Belmore Baptist Church and often blessed the congregation with his songs of praise. He also shared his music with the retirement homes and skilled nursing facilities, as well as Business Men’s Bible Class and other churches as requested for special music. He was known as being a kind hearted, true man of God. His passion in life was his music and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary Michael Esensee, four brothers and three sisters: Gilbert Esensee, Hugo Esensee, Alfred Esensee, Arthur Esensee, Edna Englehardt, Norma Wendel and Telka Ritchie.
Emil is survived by his wife Francene Esensee; his daughter Tammy Esensee of San Angelo; his step-children Pamlia Vardy of San Angelo and Gary Barnhill of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren Justin Linthicum and wife Molly of Cibolo and Shelby Balli of San Angelo, and 3 great grandchildren, Brantley Balli and Jace and Jonah Linthicum.
Visitation for Mr. Esensee will be held Sunday, January 10th from 3 to 5 P.M. at Johnsons Funeral Home, San Angelo. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 11th, at 10:00 A.M. at Belmore Baptist Church with Brother Toby Irwin and Brother Matt Wood officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
