Frances Irene Whittington

Frances Irene Stanford Whittington - born in 1936, in the Stanford Home located in Tom Green County. She is preceded in death by Husband Jack Whittington, her Parents- Edna Green Stanford and William Franklin Stanford, brothers Virgil, Elzy, Aaron (Bill), Eugene, and Troy Stanford and sisters, Nellie Odell Ferguson and Stella Mae Murphy, and son-in-law Don Wheeler.

Survived by Sister - Shirley Stanford. Children – Bruce and wife Debbie Apple of Oklahoma, Dale and wife Kim Apple of Baytown Texas, Janet Wheeler of Douglasville GA, Morris Apple of San Antonio, and Sharon K Apple of San Angelo. 8 Grand Children, 11 Great Grand Children and 2 Great Great Grand Children.

A very Special Friend – David.

Frances attended Fairview school, Edison JR High, and graduated from San Angelo Senior High in 1953. She was a longtime member of the Fairview 4-H Club. She received many awards, but the most important award was the all-expense paid trip to the national 4-H Congress in Chicago in 1952. Frances was a stay-at-home mom for 19 years raising her family. She retired from San Angelo State University in 2001. Frances was a member of Southland Baptist Church.

Her favorite saying is “See Ya Later”

Frances passed Peacefully surrounded by family members sending her off with words of Love and encouragement.

The Family would also like to thank the Nursing staff and Home Health of Shannon Hospital as well as the Staff with Hospice of San Angelo.
