

Garland Waite Finch, 83, of Grape Creek went into the arms of the Lord and his loving wife Melinda on February 16, 2014 at San Angelo Community Medical Center after a brief stay following an accident at home. He was born January 6, 1931 in Stamford, TX to Gerald Waite Finch and Myrtle Jane Turnbull Finch.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Grape Creek Baptist Church and burial to follow at Grape Creek Cemetery with Dr. Jerry Pitman and Brad Winchester officiating under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Garland served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning home in 1953; he went to work for WTU, where he worked for 38 years. Garland married Melinda (Linda) Katherine Burns on July 1, 1955 in San Angelo. They were married for 52 years. Garland became an ordained deacon in 1972 at Grape Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Laurie Wood and husband Ricky Cowley, and a son Landon Mark Finch and wife Amy of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Adam Wood, Erica Wood, Haleigh Finch, and Hannah Finch; also a special friend LaDon Blasingame, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ray Connor, Butch Hasty, Keith McCulloch, Norman Priddy, Wayland Pyburn, and Joe Rutherford. Honorary Pallbearers include the members of the Willing Workers Class.
