Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 30, at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Wanda Sue.
Jake never wanted to live anywhere but San Angelo where he grew up with his friends on the Concho River. Jake started working for the Standard-Times as a boy in the 1930’s and returned to work there after serving honorably in the US Navy during and after World War II. He ran the Red Rooster engraving company at the Standard-Times for almost half a century and was very proficient at his trade. Jake loved people and music and satisfied those loves by playing and travelling with the bluegrass band, Concho Grass. Jake was a very good fisherman, loved golf, and enjoyed spending lots of time with all his grandsons. Jake was a charter member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Madison and Juanita Rebecca and brothers William and Robert.
He is survived by his twin sister Nita Wells of Midland; two sons Hal and wife Kate of Mesa, Arizona and John and wife Kathy of San Angelo; seven grandsons and seven great-granddaughters.
