James Reece Steele, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on July 19, 2013. He was born in Merkel, Texas, on January 5, 1925, to Newton and Lona Reece Steele. After graduation from Tahoka High School in Tahoka, Texas, he served with the U.S. Army’s 78th Division in the European Theater during World War II. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 and was a Consulting Civil Engineer with Parkhill, Smith & Cooper for 35 years in Lubbock and El Paso.
He was predeceased by his father and mother; three sisters, Marie, Jean and Joyce; son, Wayne; and wives, Marilyn Steele and Patricia Parks Steele. He is survived by his sons, Harold and Steve Steele; daughters, Denise Daniel and Sherri Smith; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church in San Angelo, Texas, on Monday, July 29, 2013. A private interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
