John was a bright student who loved school and cherished his friendships. He attended Angelo State University, where he spent 6 years filled with trials, tribulations and good times before earning his degree.
He dedicated 26 years of service as a postal carrier, a role he took great pride in. In addition to his postal career, John worked at Academy Sports and Outdoors and had a passion for antiques and flea markets. Together with his in-laws, Dale and Julie Kirby, he helped operate several shops in the downtown area.
John is survived by the love of his life, his wife Patricia, whom he married in 1968, and his sister-in-law, Ellen Kirby. They shared many happy times together, often enjoying eating out.
John loved basketball and football, especially cheering on the Cowboys. He gave back to his community by coaching a softball team that advanced to the national level, as well as teenage baseball. An accomplished athlete himself, he earned second place in state competition in tennis. John also served on the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission, contributing to the development of the sports complex on the east side of town.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Ellen Kirby for her constant support and care over the years.
John would want to be remembered with a smile. He says "goodbye to all; don't be sad."
