John is survived by 3 sons; John Zak, Jr. of Fontana, CA, David Zak and wife Linda of Lawrenceville, GA, Kenneth Zak of Jacksonville, FL, and daughter Kathy Finfrock and husband Steve of San Bernardino, CA, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Brother, Ray Zak and wife Hazel of Hurst TX, two sisters Grace Smith and Susanne (Ann) Barta of San Angelo, and numerous nephews and nieces.
John attended St. Joseph School in Rowena and at 17 joined the Marine Corp. After the Marine Corp. he did Seismograph work in West Texas. In 1951 he was drafted in the Army and later joined the California National Guard. After leaving the service he worked for the Pacific Fruit Express company in California as an air brake repairman. In the early 60’s he moved to San Angelo where he worked at Armour and Company from 1962 until 1978 when they closed. He then began a new journey by working for numerous companies as a test car driver. John never meet a stranger; he enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved the military and was proud of serving his county; but most of all he was proud of his three sons who all served in the military branches.
John Zak died after a short bout from Cancer. We wish to thank Hospice of San Angelo for their assistance and comfort in our time of need.
