

Josefina D. Alaniz, 79, of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in San Angelo. Prayer service was held Friday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert Cuellar officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Josephina was born Dec. 25, 1933, in Durango, Mexico, to Francisco and Patricia Diaz. Mrs. Alaniz married Lauro Alaniz Jan. 21, 1967, in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Primera Iglesia Bautista. Josephina was the family caregiver that always made sure everything was in its place. She loved to cook and garden and would always put others feelings and needs above her own. Josephina will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Josephina was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years on Jan. 20, 2012. She is survived by her loving family: children Blanca Gonzalez and husband Salvador of San Angelo, Martha Eliza Moreno and husband Danny of San Angelo, Berta Alicia Crim of Del Rio, Jorge Luis Diaz of San Angelo; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild, Joseph Lauro Diaz; two sisters, Anna Guzman and Manuela Boston, both of Del Rio; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Marsh, Odyssey Hospice including caregivers Omega and Gabrill, and in her final days, granddaughter Jessica Amador and her children for their loving care and support.
