

She was born September 16, 1927 in Runnels County, Texas to Edward J. Glass and rose M. Pohler Glass.
Laura began school in a two room school house “Sweet Home”, graduated from Miles High School in 1944 where she was a player for the high school baseball team. After high school she was given the choice of working in the cotton field of her parents or go to college. She didn’t think working in the fields sounded like something she wanted to do so she went to San Angelo Business School and graduated in 1945. After finishing business school she took an office job with M’System Food Stores.
In 1946 Laura married Elmer Henry Halfmann in Rowena, Texas. They began their married life on family farm near Olfen, Texas until 1955 when they moved to San Angelo. She worked as clerk and then manager of Stroman Abstract and Title Company for 36 years until her retirement in 1990.
Laura was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart Cathedral Church. After retirement she was a volunteer for the St. John’s Auxiliary. Her favorite activities included gardening, sewing, and cooking as well as her love for reading especially her favorite author “Mary Higgins Clark”.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Henry Halfmann; infant daughters, Brenda Marie Halfmann and Mary Halfmann; parents, Edward J. Glass and Rose M. Pohler Glass; brothers-in-law, Roy W. Fischer and Albert E. Halfmann, Jr.
Laura is survived by her children, Karen Halfmann of San Angelo, Texas, Mitchell Halfmann and wife, Norma of Christoval, Texas, Connie Powell and husband, Mark of San Angelo, Texas and Elaine Diener and husband, Steve of Wendell, North Carolina;
grandchildren, Crystal Sinclair and husband, Gregory, of Lago Vista, Texas, Sunny Halfmann of Christoval, Texas, Joshua Halfmann and wife, Jennifer of San Angelo, Texas, Hali Powell and fiancée Sean Flanagan of San Angelo, Texas, Mason Powell and Colton Powell of San Angelo, Texas, Jessica Diener of Zebulon, North Carolina, Justin Diener, of Bailey, North Carolina, Erica Diener and John Carter Diener of Wendell, North Carolina
great grandchildren, Madalyn Halfmann of Christoval, Texas, Ripley Sinclair of Lago Vista, Texas and Joshua and Jennifer’s baby girl on the way

Rosary will be held at 7 PM, Monday, January 16, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Cathedral Church.
Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery in San Angelo.
