Manuela "Nellie" Gomez Torres

Manuela "Nellie" Gomez Torres of San Angelo was born August 8,1923 in Mason, TX to Lolo and Cruz Gomez. Manuela went to be with her heavenly father on Thursday September 27, 2012 at Shannon Medical Center. Manuela was raised in Brady and Menard. On August 13,1945 she married Miguel R. Torres and was married for 49 years until his passing. Manuela was a homemaker, devoted mother & grandmother. She was strong in her Presbyterian faith and attended Santa Angela Gospel Center. Her 3rd grade education assisted in teaching children and youth and helping women in Sunday School, Women's Group and Youth activities. The best times of her life was spending time with her family and playing Bingo. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Ismael Gomez and infant child. Her legacy lives on through her children: Mike Torres (Alice), Margaret Lopez , Delma Delgado (Albert), Linda Martinez, Cruz Torres, Sam Torres(Lisa), Lolly Montelongo (Arnold) John Torres(Marvel), Steve Torres(Rosa) all of San Angelo and Arturo Torres(Marylou) of San Antonio TX. Also surviving are her 36 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Mike Delgado, Jr Torres, Jason Torres, Eric Torres, Jake Torres, Jerry Gomez, Antonio Martinez and John Torres Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

The Prayer Service will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2012 at St. Mark Presbyterian Church with Rev. Linda Martinez officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
