

Martha M. Garcia, 77, of San Angelo went to be with her Lord and Savior in San Angelo on Monday, June 27, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. The rosary will be 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 1, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Inurnment will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Martha was born March 13, 1934 in San Angelo, Texas to Merced and Micaela Tafolla Moran. She married Jose Rivera Garcia on December 14, 1953 in San Diego, CA and they were blessed with 57 beautiful years of marriage together. Martha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and sister who devoted her life to her family. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. She loved cooking and arts and crafts and really enjoyed making creative things for her family. Her favorite time of the year was Christmastime. Martha was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her grandmother who raised her Micaela Tafolla, her parents and one grandchild Mike Jones. Martha is survived by her loving family, Husband, Jose Garcia, of San Angelo; her children, Leticia Harris and her husband, Charles, of San Angelo, Joe Garcia and his wife, Yvonne, of Bedford, TX, Jeannie Jones and her husband Loel, of New York City, NY, Randy Garcia and his wife, Shelley, of Keller, TX, and Lisa Garcia and her husband Daniel Rodriguez, of San Angelo; 11 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; three sisters, Cecelia Ross, of Las Vegas, NV, Amelia Ramirez, of San Diego, CA, and Elida Escalante, of St. Petersburg, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends and the ladies of her ST. Mary’s Church prayer group who were very dear to her heart. Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons Fernando San Miguel, Brian Jones, Zac Garcia, Greg Garcia, Ben Garcia and Anthony Perez. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to Hospice of San Angelo, especially Mary Cheek, Veronica Dominguez and Shirley Jones for all of the loving care given to Martha during her illness.
