Norma was born to Joseph and Virgie Lena Mitchell on February 8, 1930, in Lamesa, Texas. Growing up, she loved the daily duties of working on the family farm. After high school, she began working for a telephone company as a switchboard operator and worked her way up to the general office. In 1982, after 32 years of service, she retired.
Her proudest achievement was marrying the love of her life, A.C. “Skipper” Lively. They wed on June 4, 1970 and resided in Sterling City. Norma and Skipper enjoyed traveling all over the country together. More than anything in this world, Norma loved her family, and she will be missed tremendously.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Skipper Lively, and her parents, Joseph and Virgie Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter, Gailann Huffman, three grandchildren, Ricky and wife Tiffany, Erin and friend Austin Miller, and William and wife Libby Huffman, and three great grandchildren, Diamond, Sabrina, and Ricky Jr.- all of San Angelo.
The viewing will be Sunday, November 3rd at Johnson’s Funeral Home from 2-4pm. Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 4th, 2013 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, in San Angelo at 1pm. Immediately following services there will be a memorial dinner.
The family would like to send their sincerest thanks to Myrtlewood Estates, Dr. Steven Burgess, Odyssey Hospice, and the kind nursing and respiratory staff at Shannon Medical Center for their diligent and compassionate care.
