Robbie Lee Winn

Robbie was born on March 13, 1925, in Van Buren, Arkansas to Jewel J. and Sara L. Burgess Schaible. She married John Allen “Buddy” Winn on July 11, 1944, in Del Rio, Texas. Robbie’s family owned the Schaible Grocery Store in Big Lake, Texas for many years. She and Buddy owned and operated the Gulf Oil Company Service Station in Big Lake for over 30 years.

Shortly after their marriage, Buddy whisked Robbie away on the back of his motorcycle to Big Lake where they spent their entire married lives. Robbie was an avid gardener. Her lawn and flowers were some of the most beautiful in West Texas. She and Buddy won several awards for their landscaping. She was an excellent cook in whose home one would never go hungry. In fact, when her parents owned the grocery store, she would rise at 4:00 am every morning to bake pies for sale. Robbie also loved to fish, a hobby she very much enjoyed sharing with her family and friends. Her grandchildren spent many wonderful hours fishing with their Mamaw. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family.

We are comforted in knowing that Robbie and Buddy are together in God’s kingdom, dancing together once again.

Robbie was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy, her parents, her brother, Buck Schaible, and her sister Marcia Hough.

She is survived by her loving children: Linda Bacon of Arlington, Texas; Carol Ward and husband Gary of Odessa, Texas; Nancy Vandiver of San Angelo, Texas; Allen Wayne Winn and wife Debra of San Angelo ; Janet Curtis and husband Danny of Eldorado, Texas; her sister-in-law Barbara Schaible; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.

A celebration of Robbie’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 21st at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake, Texas.

Services will be under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo.
