

Sarah Williams, 84, of San Angelo, Texas, passed from this life Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, in Shannon Medical Center after a courageous fight with congestive heart failure. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Beverly Burk and the Rev. Nancy Day officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Sarah was born Aug. 17, 1926, in San Angelo, Texas, to the late Lady Kathryn and Ellis Jett Benton. She married D.G. Williams on April 18, 1947, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Sarah spent her life in San Angelo, Texas. She attended Lake View High School and San Angelo College. She worked at First National Bank and Fairview School, a part of Wall Independent School District until she retired in 1986. Sarah was a wonderful wife and mother with a heart of gold. Everyone she touched loved her. She was also a fabulous cook. She once received accolades from Ross McSwain in his column, "Out Yonder," for her venison chili. She loved to fish, travel and the Texas Rangers. She was a memebr of St. Luke United Methodist Church and an active member of the Concho Valley Telephone Pioneers Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother-in-law, Wilbert Bruton. She is survived by her daughter, Linda D. Williams of Odessa, Texas; her sister, Vina Bruton; and her nieces and nephew, Kathy (Bruton) Tucker and her husband, Parks, Kerry Bruton and his wife, Kay, Cindy (Bruton) Waters and her husband, Mitch. She is also survived by a great-nephew, Zane Bowers, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Baize and Bray; and great-niece Katrina (Waters) Huffstutler and her husband, Brandon. She is also survived by the following people she chose as her family, Mary Lee Daniel, daughter number two; Becky Callan, daughter number three; Paul Huff and Eric Eggemeyer, the sons she wished were hers; and her wonderful neighbors, Roger and Anna Margaret Anderson, John and Ruth Jordan, J.J. Graham, with whom she shared the love of the Texas Rangers, Paul and Phyllis Huff and Monk and Shirley McKay. Special thanks to the following people: Ardelia Evans, for the wonderful care she provided which allowed Sarah to live independently until the end; Mary and Cliff Burnett; Becky Allison, Billie Lynn Tjaden and their children, Judy Gregg, Doodle Dankworth, Dianne English and Vaughnie and Kay Gilly for their help and support. Pallbearers are Kerry Bruton, Parks Tucker, Zane Bowers, George Brannies, J.J. Graham and Eric Eggemeyer. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to a favorite charity.
