

Vennie Lou Tankersley passed away December 9, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 30, 1935 in Tom Green County. Vennie Lou was a baby when her brother Jack gave her the special nickname Tut. Nieces, nephews and cousins called her Aunt Tut.
Her family moved from San Angelo to Sherwood Texas in 1949. She began attending Mertzon School in 8th grade. She graduated high school there in 1954. She attended San Angelo College and was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1955.
It was in Mertzon that she met Jackie. They began dating in 1952, and were married at the First United Methodist Church in Mertzon Texas August 12, 1960 by the Rev. Lynn H. McAden. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past August surrounded by family and friends. Vennie’s passions in life were serving her church in many capacities including teaching Sunday School for 25 years, her children, her grandchildren, cooking, the bridge club and dancing with Jackie.
Vennie Lou is preceded in death by her parents Homer and Nettie Lee Westbrook Bryant, and her brother Jack Bryant. She is survived by her husband Jackson Loil Tankersley, daughter Becky Lou and husband Kyle Lange, son Douglas Loil and his special friend Lisa West, grandchildren, Chance Loil and Cagney Marie. Her sister Jan and husband Mike Bryan and brother William and wife LuAnn and numerous nieces nephews and cousins. We love you Vennie Lou, Mama, Aunt Tut, Grandma!
The family would like to thank Dr Prieto, Dr Brewer, the staff of Vista Care and especially Lisa for the care and guidance they provided the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Mertzon, or the charity of one’s choice.

Visitation will be 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Sunday December 12,2010 at Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00a.m. Monday December 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Mertzon with burial to follow at the Mertzon cemetery.
