

Willard Clayton “Butch” Smith, 82, of San Angelo passed away on December 7, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father Boyd Smith, mother Meryl Pennington Smith, brothers Jimmy Don Smith, of San Angelo, Richard Smith of Brownwood and wife Gerry Smith.
Survivors include wife, Jonell Smith of San Angelo, daughter Lisa Lavender and Jeff Jones, of Lubbock, grandson Landon Lavender and wife Kimberly Lavender, great-grandchildren Clayton and Kinsey Lavender of Waxahachie, daughter Kim Peters and husband Sam Peters, grandchildren Will and Emily Peters of Boerne, brother Boyd Wayne Smith and wife Johnie Smith of San Angelo, and sister Connie Esposito of Sugar Land. Also included in family are Jeremy and Kelsey Dillon and Jacob, Jax, and Bailie Dillon plus numerous nephews and nieces.
“Butch” as he was called by all that knew and loved him, worked 45 years for Santa Fe Railroad in Slaton, Lubbock, San Angelo, Albuquerque, NM, and Topeka, KS before retiring on Lake Nasworthy, San Angelo Texas. He loved being near the water where he could play with his favorite dog Muffin, fish, cook out and enjoy time with family and friends. Butch also grew up hunting, trapping with his family and friends, and after retirement he liked to travel and never missed an auction or an estate sale.
Services will be private to the family at a later date.
