

William E. "Bill" Parker. 72, of San Angelo, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in San Angelo. He was born to the late, Edgar Sylvanus and Louise Pearl Bowman Parker on Sunday, February 6, 1944 in Gaffney, SC. Bill served in both the United States Army and United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He married the love of his life, Linda G. Vassey on February 14, 1965 in Gaffney, SC. They shared a full life together, traveling and moving their family all over the United States, settling in San Angelo. They are members of the New Beginning Community Church of God. Bill retired from Goodfellow AFB, where he worked as an Exterior High Voltage Electrician for a number of years. He believed in working hard and doing what you love for a living. He was a man with a romantic heart, a true poet and talented story teller. Bill spent countless hours writing poems for those he loved and singing to his wife. He was someone you did not forget, especially his talent for talking backwards. Bill was an outdoorsman; enjoying hunting and fishing, especially. Bill was one of the sweetest and most giving men you ever met, however he believed in holding people accountable and tough love as well. He was an animal lover and inspiration to those he leaves behind. He will be missed greatly. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nancy Jude.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Parker; children and their spouses, David Parker, Joseph and Cindy Parker, Andrea and Daniel Granato, Jeffrey and Darlene Parker, and Mike and Angie Graham; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; brothers and their spouses, Ron and Judy Parker; and Danny Barman and Trisha Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A time of visitation will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 PM on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in the Johnson's Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tom Bruce officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to share photos and memories as well as sign the online guestbook at www.johnsons_funeral home.com . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Beginnings Community Church of God at 2900 N. Oakes, San Angelo, Texas 76903. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.
