Woodrow Arthur Rogers

Woodrow was born February 1, 1918 to Tom Rogers and Nora Bell Logsdon in Midilothian, TX. Dad was the fourth child in a family of 10. He represents the end of an era as he was the last of his siblings to pass. His family was a very loving one along with their many kids and grandkids. He married Juanita Hanes on September 24, 1939. Dad loved his family very much and they returned that love many times over.

Dad grew up in West Texas in the small community of New Moore in Lynn County. He and his extended family were farmers by trade. He worked for many years for the State of Texas at the old McKnight State Hospital in Carlsbad, TX. Later he would work for Tom Green County in Precinct 3, retiring in 1979.

Woodrow was preceded in death by his father, mother, 9 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Juanita Hanes Rogers of San Angelo, TX; daughters Melva Jean Rogers Weeks and Husband Jodie Weeks of San Angelo, TX and Sandra Dian Rogers Noelke and Husband Herbert Noelke of Sheffield, TX, son Cloy Darrell Rogers and wife Connie of San Angelo, TX, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral service is Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Ed McCorkle and Jodie Weeks officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
