Alberto grew up in a migrant farmworker family that travelled between California and the Rio Grande Valley, Texas. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1980, and honorably served his country for 24 years. In addition to assignments in North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Spain, Germany, and Panama, he deployed to Iceland, Israel, Hungary, and Qatar. After retiring from active duty in 2005, Alberto continued his service to the Air Force in the service’s Wounded Warrior program, where he continued to support and advocate for the men and women who have given so much for their country.
Alberto was more than an airman; he was also a committed father who raised four exceptional children. His example, and the decisions he made as a parent, helped shape the lives of his three sons and one daughter, all of whom have gone on to good careers and started their own families. Alberto was a caring and kind grandfather to seven grandchildren, all of whom dearly loved and adored him. He was also a role model, advocate, and mentor to family and friends, and helped many achieve their life goals.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Salinas and stepson, Tyler; and his four children, Eduardo, Ernesto, Estevan, and Elizabeth, from his former wife, San Juanita. He is also survived by his mother, Elisa Salinas, and his three siblings, Alfredo, Elisa, and Abel. He was preceded in death by his father, Eudocio Salinas.
Alberto was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and a good friend who will be truly missed.
