

Aldo Pedro Rey, age 63, passed away on February 6th, 2011. Aldo was born in Lima, Peru on June 27th, 1947. He attended the Maristas School in San Isidro Lima, Peru, and the University of Houston where he met and married his wife of 40 years, Cheree, and earned a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering. Returning to Lima in 1970 he helped his father manage the family shoe businesses and other investments. Aldo enjoyed spending summers in Ancon, a beach town near Lima, with his family and friends. It’s where Aldo enjoyed sailing and spent his days fishing, both of which he loved throughout his life. For the safety and opportunity provided to his family, Aldo moved his family to San Antonio, Texas in 1984 where he owned and operated shoe stores. He was also an avid golfer, a game enjoyed most when played with his sons. A fun-loving and good-humored man, he enjoyed playing Acquire and card games with his friends and family. His grandchildren brought him much happiness. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Cheree, sons Aldo and wife Kendra of Richardson, Texas; Michael and wife Julie of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Norma and husband Moi of Los Angeles, CA; Oty of Lima, Peru; brother Mario of Lima, Peru; mother Giovanna of Lima, Peru; grandchildren: Fabiana, Luca, Turner, Lucia, Marco, and Tripp. He is preceded in death by his father Humberto Rey & father-in-law Harold Thannisch. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a Vigil to be held at 7 p.m. Friday, February 11th at St. Mark the Evangelist, 1602 Thousand Oaks, San Antonio. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark the Evangelist on Saturday, February 12th at 2 pm with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Reception will be held afterwards at the church. In lieu of flowers the family humbly requests donations honoring Aldo be directed to St. Mark Evangelist Catholic Church.
