Alfred Esparza Gomez was born in San Antonio, TX on January 29, 1959 to Toribio and Irene (Esparza) Gomez and passed away on January 12, 2015. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and worked for VIA as an operator for over 15 years. He was also the Vice-President of the driver’s union. Alfred had a great sense of humor and loved to shoot pool. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Loretta Perez.
Surviving are his children, Annette Gomez, Stephanie Gomez, Alfredo Roberto Gomez, Jr.; grandchildren, Alyssa Olveda, Marc Olveda, Jr; and his siblings, Toribio E. Gomez, Jr. (Liz), Sandra Palos (David), Patricia Flores (Juan), Rosa Lee Pacheco and Roland Eugene Gomez; and various other family members.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
