Alfred M. Sanchez, "Blue", age 72, of San Antonio, entered into God's kingdom on Monday, September 21, 2009.
Mr. Sanchez was a graduate of Sydney Lanier High School, where he was the senior editor of the school paper, El Nopal. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as Fist Sergeant after 35 years of service and retired from Kelly AFB as a Senior Computer Programmer.
He was a member of the Spanish American Baseball League as player and President, and of the Mexican American Sports Association, MASA. He was also President of Club Regis. His love of baseball continued for many years playing softball with the "Old Stars".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred "Sandy" and Frances Sanchez; sister, Isabel Torres.
Survivors: wife, Lydia Sanchez; daughters, Debbie Sanchez, Kimberly Garcia and Valerie Green; stepdaughters, Cindy Ortega Justin and Alma Villarreal Rory; stepsons, Manuel Villa, Jr; Nancy and Rick Villa; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Cecelia Rodriguez; brothers, Ralph Sanchez and Joseph Sanchez; sisters, Ora Lee Gutierrez, Patricia Martinez and Cynthia Flores.
