Alfredo Galan (known to his family as "Tata"), age 78, was a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas. He joined our heavenly father on June 27, 2015 surrounded by his loving family in his home after a short battle with cancer.
"Tata" was born on January 19, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to Juan and Elena Galan. Alfred did not complete his formal education until he served in the U.S. Navy. Following his years of service in the U.S. Navy he fell in love with his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary Lou Arizola. He joined the Carpenters' Union and launched his career as a carpenter. Although his passion was carpentry, he spent the majority of his career as a superintendent supervising commercial construction projects. He worked for area companies including Guido Construction Co., Joe Lopez Construction Co., and lastly JJ Falbo Construction Co. when he retired.
Years later, he spent a brief stent working for EZ Bel Construction Co, where he retired permanently thereafter. The vast number of projects he was involved with are too numerous to list, and those close to Alfred knew his most profound quality was that of being a perfectionist often saying "if you're gonna do it, do it right or don't do it at all." To his family "Tata" was an extremely wise and warm hearted loving man who gave lifelong unconditional love, support, advice and guidance. He entertained his family with jokes and riddles bringing laughter and smiles to all. He was a charitable man often helping complete strangers in need and never expecting anything in return. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and watching sports.
Alfred is survived by spouse, Mary Lou Galan of San Antonio, his children, Belinda Olguin of San Antonio, Michelle Salas and husband Jesse of Mico, TX, Dr. Rene Galan and wife Michelle of Miami, OK, Brenda Esparza and husband Ray of San Antonio, Ryan Garcia and husband Noe of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Danielle, JJ, Maddie, Elijah, Ericah, Rebecca, Sabastian, Markos, Bethany and David.
