Alice Flores Porche

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Christoval Flores and Jay Porche.

Alice is survived by sons, Richard (Becky) Flores and David (Jane) Flores. She was a wonderful Nana to nine grandchildren, Barbara Robinson, Chris Flores (Alissa), Elizabeth Gingerich (Mike), Lisa Peterson, Ian Flores (Ashley), James Flores (Ashley), Alyssa Nordstrom (Aaron), Dorothy Caldwell (David Abeyta) and Maggie Savage (John) and 10 great-grandchildren, Michayla Flores, Dylan Flores, Skylar Hinson, Chloe Flores, Ashton Flores, Gavin Flores, Lucah Flores, Owen Abeyta, Amelia Savage and Emmett Savage.

Alice was raised by her aunts, after her mother died giving birth to her. She was an independent young woman who put herself through school. Alice graduated from Abilene Christian College and went on to teach in the Edgewood School District in San Antonio for 40 years. She was instrumental in establishing the ESL (English as Second Language) program there co-authored several textbooks.

Widowed early in life, Alice raised her sons while working full time with time out for family trips. She loved attending the grandkids school programs and sporting events frequently cheering and applauding most enthusiastically. Lately, she has enjoyed rocking and singing to the great-grandchildren. Nana will be missed by her many wonderful friends. She was indeed a very special lady. The Flores family feels very blessed to have had her lead them.
