

As a young girl Amanda Lee spent time growing up in Panama and attending school at Mark Twain. She went on to graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School as a famed Lasso. She got married at the tender age of 17 to Bob Deicke on Valentines Day of 1953.
She began working at South Western Bell Telephone Company and later retired in 1991 with 35 years of service. Amanda and Bob served the community their entire lives for many different organizations, charities, and fundraisers. Amanda was a leader with Telephone Pioneers and Hermann Sons. She received multiple awards for outstanding service and held many offices including the office of President for both organizations. She served more than twenty years with the Pioneers and forty with Hermann Sons.
She was a member of Colonial Hills United Methodist Church. She worked in the office and served in various capacities wherever she was needed.
Amanda was preceded in death by her husband Bob Deicke; father Paul Curtis, mother Loudie Curtis; son in law John Zimmerman; great grandson Tristan Ruben Oliver.
Amanda is survived by her children David Deicke and Diane Zimmerman. Brother Wayne Curtis and wife Dollie. Grandchildren David Oliver and wife Melissa. Lauren Silvia, Kelli Zimmerman Olivarez and Auge, John Michael Zimmerman. Great grandchildren, Annabelle Oliver, Jack Silvia, Allyssa Conchas, Aaron Conchas, Tyler Zimmerman, Rebecca Bernsen, Abigail Bernsen. Great great grandchildren Zachariah Zimmerman. Several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Pallbearers will be David Oliver, Tyler Zimmerman, David Newman, AJ Pardo, Frank Collazo Jr., Jim Lay.
Visitation for Amanda will be held Friday June 30, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. At Sunset Funeral Home 1701 Austin Hwy. San Antonio Tx. 78218.
A Life Celebration will occur on Saturday July 1, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, with Pastor Germaine Mathis and Pastor Dan Harrington officiating committal service will follow from 2:00 to 2:30 at Sunset Memorial Park 1701 Austin Hwy. S.A. Tx. 78218
The reception will follow at 3:00 pm at Colonial Hills Methodist Church located at 5247 Vance Jackson Rd. San Antonio Tx. 78230. It will also be a way for those who may not be able to attend the service to stop by and pay respects to the family.
Finger sandwiches, light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Sons of Hermann Youth Camp.
