After living a life of abundant love for her family, friends and her Catholic faith Amelia Eloisa Martinez, 91, joined the lord and her beloved husband Johnny on February 19th, 2026. She was born on February 25th, 1934 in Corpus Christi, Texas. At the age of 15 she met Johnny G. Martinez and later married at the age of 21. Amelia, as an Air Force military wife, traveled with him across the United States as well as overseas.
Along with taking care of 5 children, she was president of the Izmir NCO wives club, president of the TOPS chapter in Kingsville, and worked for Texas A&I University. She earned her B.S. from Texas State University and her M.S. in Theology from American University in DC.
Amelia's work ethic was unparalleled, with a career that spanned roles as a dedicated public servant, with the Institute of Texan Cultures, Department of Defense, and the National Guard, where she retired from the federal government.
Her dedication to guiding her family to the importance of service to community was reflected in her commitment to serving others. She was committed to her faith and church community and found solace in her service to our parish as a lector, children’s and adult choir director, and bible study leader with the same care and attention she gave to her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband Johnny G. Martinez and sister Angelita Sanchez Vossler.
