Andrea Dawn Ontjes was granted her angel wings on June 16, 2016. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Andrea had touched in some special way throughout her very memorable life.
Andrea was born August 30, 1983, in McAllen, Texas and moved to San Antonio when she was five years old. She graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School and attended Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. "Annie", as she was known to those that knew and loved her, was happiest when she was singing or taking care of young children, especially her beloved niece.
Andrea's life would seem too short to many, but those who were privileged to know her understood that her quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time which she was granted. Her gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around her, her laugh was infectious and her beautiful voice will always be remembered. With Andrea's passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, she will remain in our hearts forever.
Andrea is survived by her mother, Laurie Angel Ontjes; sister, Jennifer Jean Black and husband, J.R.; niece, Kinsley Grace Black; sister, Chandler Danielle Barrow; maternal grandmother, Margie Duff Angel; aunt, Darice Dawn Angel; aunt, Marcia Angel Thoene and husband, Bob; uncle, Bubba Angel and wife, Rebecca; cousins Kelly Angel Thoene, Collin Ross Thoene, Baylee Rene Hopper, and Brehannah Nicole Hopper; father, Willis Ontjes; paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Ontjes Zapolski; aunt, Billie Ann Boenig; cousins Kristi Kolberg, Karrie Kolberg Evitt and Kraig Kolberg; and fatherly figure, Thurman Barrow. Andrea is preceded in death by her loving maternal grandfather, "Pooh", Truman Darrell Angel.
