Our beloved matriarch, Angelita Alameda Gonzalez, slipped away quietly on March 13, 2026, at ninety-six. Born to Juan Alameda and Guadalupe Garcia, she carried a steady light: faith, family, and a quiet joy that never quite faded.
She had five children. Two—Pablo and Matilde—left too soon. Those quiet losses stayed close, but never dimmed her light. The three who grew—Janie (who went before her), Irma, and Pedro—were her everything. She just wanted them to be good, kind, and honest. They are.
Up at four in the morning and out by five, she cleaned rooms at Methodist Hospital every morning until she retired in 1991—no fuss, just work. She knew every bus route cold, never drove, never needed to. Jesus rode beside her; that was her map.
She loved lavender; but, her hands made blankets in every shade, crocheted scarves, sewed dresses, whatever kept her busy. Kids made her laugh; she danced when music played; she remembered every birthday, especially her grandkids'—often with a crisp twenty-dollar bill. She upheld the tradition for as long as she could.
A Guadalupana to her core, she prayed the Rosary as naturally as breathing. She had eyes for the good in people, a heart quick to forgive, a mind that let hurts go. She had an unshakable faith in God.
She had little, but never wanted. She had a humble home, but always had room for people. And when she stepped out—bus, bills, errands—she went alone, except she didn't.
Survived by Irma and Pedro, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and all the hearts she touched.
