

Anna Lucy Brown, 97, of San Antonio, TX passed away on June 14, 2024. Born in Waelder, TX, on July 27, 1926. Lucy was a beloved school teacher, specializing in general science and history. She also dedicated her time to coaching basketball, volleyball, tennis, track, and swimming.
In her free time, Lucy was a talented seamstress, known for making beautiful clothes for her grandchildren, grandnieces, and nephews. She also had a passion for painting in oils; she made incredible needlepoint works, enjoyed scuba diving, golf, and tennis. She was an avid sports fan and had tremendous knowledge of nearly every sporting activity.
Lucy is survived by her stepdaughter Jennifer McKenzie (Kevin), three grandchildren Shawn, Forrest, and Morgan McKenzie, eight nieces and nephews, thirteen grandnieces and nephews, and eighteen great-grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband’s Leonard W. Brown and J.D. Kedding, parents Robert E Bradfield and Arldia Westbrook Bradfield, and siblings Robert Bradfield (Bernice), Ganey Bradfield (Virginia), and Charles Bradfield (Lavonne) (Mimi).
Lucy graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1946 after attending primary and high school in Waelder, TX. Before starting her teaching career, she played semi-professional softball on the Tulsa semi-pro team. Her dedication to education and sports touched the lives of many.
Lucy met Leonard on a blind date set up by a friend in the late 1960s. After that she spent her summers in Atwater, CA until she retired. She then moved full time to Atwater where she and Leonard were married in 1986. Leonard and Lucy both enjoyed sports and enjoyed many adventures over the years. Lucy was very dedicated to Leonard; she loved him dearly and cared for him until his passing in 2012.
Lucy then returned to San Antonio Texas where she resided at Blue Skies of Texas West. Lucy made many friends at Blue Skies over the years. She loved her cottage and enjoyed the many social activities and the community very much.
Lucy lived a great life and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her presence will be missed by all; but her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
A Private Burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
