Antonette, known as “Toni” to her family and friends, was born on January 7, 1954, in Galveston, Texas. She grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was a proud member of the Richard King High School Class of 1972. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and married James Clark in 1979. She moved back to Corpus Christi to work and raise her family. Toni worked for the Hamilton Family for almost 40 years. She later moved to San Antonio where she spent most of her time spoiling and loving on her grandchildren.
Toni surrounded her family with love and laughter. She was caring and thoughtful. Toni loved the Rolling Stones and Paul Simon, singing Christmas Carols, and spending time with Max and Lucy, who lovingly called her “Annie.” She enjoyed baking and gardening and had quite the green thumb. Toni believed in access to quality healthcare, bodily autonomy, and reading banned books. To honor her memory, get registered and go vote.
Toni is survived by her husband, James D. Clark, daughter, Mica Clark-Peterek (John), grandchildren, Max and Lucy, sisters, Livia Schorlemer (Richard) and Roberta Bernhard (Dan), brother, Michael Bemis, and many other extended family members, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom she adored.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Adele and Jim Bemis, and her daughter, Emily Aletha Clark.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at University Hospital, the Thomas and Hamilton Families, and our friends and family for all their love, care, and support.
