Mr. Soto was preceded in death by his wife, Ysabel J. Soto and son, Antonio (Tony) J. Soto and wife, Herminia; father, Tomas Soto, mother, Petra R. Soto; brothers, Tomas and Ramon R. Soto, and sister, Trinidad R. Soto.
He is survived by his brother, Juan R. Soto; children Guadalupe Soto Pintor, Rosario Soto Diaz, Ruben J. Soto (Laura), Mary Soto-Merritt (William B. Merritt III), and Roland J. Soto (Sylvia). Grandpa Soto leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Gabriel Pintor (Melissa) Jeanette G. Soto, Rene Pintor (Michelle), Roslyn E. Rosales, Michael Pintor (Leora), Traci R. Soto, Roxanne Soto DeHoyos (Mark), Jacob and Steven Soto and his sister-in-law, Carmen Jimenez. He also leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
Mr. Soto worked as an aircraft engine mechanic at Kelly Air Force Base with a career beginning in 1948 working at what was then known as Kelly Field. Prior to his civil service career spanning over 40 years, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After retiring from Kelly, he volunteered at his grandchildren's elementary schools and was active in his Catholic Church communities. Kelly Elementary School presented him with the School's Grandpa-of-the-Year Award.
Grandpa Soto had a love for music having mastered the acoustic guitar when he was young and also played accordion. Music was always heard at the home, and his love of music inspired his children and award-winning grandchildren. There were always home-cooked meals and freshly-baked pastries since he mastered both at an early age. He enjoyed carpentry work, loved wrestling and boxing, talking about Kelly and the Army. But nothing brought more joy to him than seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren growing up. He will be dearly missed by
everyone.
The Soto family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Gonzaba Medical Group and send their sincere thanks to Diana Rodriguez and her staff at Superlative Senior Care.
