Arthur G. Cardenas, 87, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in San Antonio to Fidel and Matilda Cardenas, Arthur was a man of skill, wit, and deep devotion to his community.
A master of his craft, Arthur dedicated over 40 years to aviation maintenance, serving at Kelly Air Force Base and Chromalloy. His expertise in installing, inspecting, and repairing aircraft was a testament to his meticulous nature and work ethic.
Beyond his professional life, Arthur was a man of many passions. He was an avid canoeist who found peace on the water and a talented craftsman who spent countless hours woodworking and fabricating metal in his shop. A long-time parishioner at St. Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Church, his faith was a cornerstone of his life. Above all, Arthur was a world-class storyteller; he never met a stranger he couldn’t entertain with a perfectly "exaggerated" tale and a mischievous grin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Alma; his children, Diana and Tim; and four cherished grandchildren who will deeply miss their grandfather’s humor and guidance.
A funeral service to celebrate Arthur’s life will be held on January 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
