Augie Flores passed away on Wednesday morning, February 19th, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on October 26, 1964, in San Antonio, TX, to Julia C. Flores and Roger H. Flores, Augie was the oldest of three children.
A proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School (Class of 1983), Augie continued his education at Texas Tech University, where his love for the school spirit was evident to all who knew him. He eventually returned to San Antonio, where he worked as a coach at Ridgeview Elementary and met the love of his life, Cynthia Lynne (Van Dyke). Augie and Cynthia were married on July 25, 1992, a union lasting 33 years and will continue forever.
Their first great adventure began on July 3, 1996, when their daughter, Shelby Flores, was born—truly a life lesson for Augie that has continued to fill his heart.
Augie found success in both his professional and community life. He was a proud member of 3rd degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council #786 at Holy Spirit, active member of A.C.T.S. Community Team and of the St. Pius X “That Man is You” Men’s Group. He contributed to the Hospitality of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Chairman of the NIOSA Mexican Market booth, and was a longstanding member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Augie also worked for 23 years at the Marriott Rivercenter, where he earned numerous top salesman awards.
Augie poured his heart into helping his community and always made sure everyone around him felt valued. He was known for running into old friends wherever he went, never forgetting a face, and always checking in on those he cared about. If you were ever struggling, Augie would be there to lift you up.
Augie was a man of many stories, always ready with a joke or an adventure that would leave you laughing. He found joy in the happiness of others and had a special love for his family, his dogs, and his friends. Whether it was playing golf, hunting, watching the Red Raiders or Dallas Cowboys play, taking family vacations to South Padre Island and Port Aransas, enjoying weekend markets and taco dates with Cynthia, Augie was always present, always loving, and always enjoying life. His daughter, Shelby, was often the recipient of his playful antics, and although she may have rolled her eyes, she’ll always miss those moments.
Augie’s love for his family was immeasurable, and his absence has left a hole in all our hearts. However, as we all knew him to be, it is our responsibility to keep his memory alive—through laughter, love, and storytelling. Don't worry, he’ll be listening.
He is preceded in death by his father. Augie is survived by his wife, Cindy Flores; his daughter, Shelby Flores (Parish Cardenas); mother, Julia; brother, Roger A. Flores (wife Cheryl Flores); his sister, Araceli (Sally) Schrantz (husband Jeff Schrantz); and several nieces and nephews: Lauren, Kelsey, Cody, Kyle, Claudia, Brooke, Logan, and Paige.
Please join us in celebrating his life on March 3, 2025, with visitation and viewing from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary McCullough, located at 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX 78212.
