

Aurora Guarnero Colón was called home to heaven to be with God and our Lord Jesus Christ Friday, November 21, 2003. She waged a courageous fight with her chronic ailments and died on her own terms at home. She was born on May 14, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Emilio M. Colón and mother, Maria Guarnero.
She is survived by her sons, Emilio Colón and wife, Jovita and George Colón; daughter, Aurora García and husband, Carlos; adopted loving daughter Gloria Delgado; grandsons, Charles García, John Carlos García, Matthew García, Patrick Colón and wife, Heather, Christopher Colón and wife, Sandra, Isaac Alanis and wife, Kerri; great grandsons, Austin Colón and Charles García, Jr.; brother, Ermilo Guarnero.
Though Aurora had little formal education, she always encouraged her daughter and sons to pursue their education. She was very proud of her daughter, Aurora and son, George who both received Masters Degrees. She was very excited about her son, George who recently passed his qualifying exams for a PhD. She was proud of her son, Emilio who became a grand knight in the Knights of Columbus. She was always supportive of all their endeavors. She was always volunteering at her children's schools and served as P.T.A. President at Bowie Elementary, Washington Irving Jr. High, and Fox Tech High School. Aurora was very active in the community. She was a member of the Mexican American Democrats of San Antonio and had served as president of the senior citizens group at St. Agnes Church.
Her loving nurturing ways will be missed by all of her family. She was a strong willed woman who even in her last hours was a model to others. May she rest in peace.

The family would also like to thank the paramedics of American Emergency Response who treated our mother with respect and dignity.
