Barbara Ruth Carter, age 87, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Syracuse, New York to Mary and Walter Kravetz. At the age of 8, her father moved her mom and two younger sisters to California.
She graduated from Montebello High School in 1957. After graduating high school, she attended a community college for interior decorating. Soon after she met the love of her life, Chuck. They had a very adventurous life with moving several times throughout their marriage due to his career. One of the more adventurous moves they made was to Islamabad, Pakistan, where she worked in the US Embassy as an Administrative Assistant. They returned to the United States where they made San Antonio their final home.
She made many friends over the years and kept their friendship for many years. Chuck and Barbara celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas at the Little Chapel where they were first married. It was a wonderful celebration with many of her family and dear friends. She was married to Chuck for 61 years.
She was the best cook and a wonderful host and loved entertaining her family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, and she made the holidays extra special. She welcomed everyone with her smile, her beautiful blue eyes and her generous sweet heart.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Kravetz; her husband, Chuck; her sister, Arlene; her brother, Rick; and her grandson, Seth.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Melissa); daughter, Cindy (Dan); grandchildren, Chris (Amber), Casey (Jessi), Corey (Haley) Clay (Courtney), Brett (Hannah) and Katrina; great-grandchildren, Eli, Camden, Cambryn, Kelbie, Chance, and Stormi; sister, Sandy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held on, Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232, with a reception following.
