

Barbara was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 13, 1943. She spent her early childhood in New York and her teen years in Florida. She graduated from Miami Beach Senior High in 1960, earned a B.A. from the University of Miami in 1964 and a Juris Doctorate from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio in 1982 and was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1983. She practiced Family Law and the last several years of her practice focused upon her true passion of helping children. Barbara was a zealous advocate who worked tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of many families. She was an active member of the San Antonio, Bexar County Women's, Texas Women's and Mexican-American Bar Associations.
Barbara had a passion for the arts, particularly opera and symphony. A nature and animal lover, she was a long-time supporter of SNAP and The Animal Defense League. She frequently volunteered for the Wounded Warriors and was an Honored Hero of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training as well as serving multiple cultural, arts and faith organizations.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and especially cherished time with her two grandsons, Wyatt and Garrett.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Becky (Aaron) James, Felise (Scott) Lenger, two grandchildren Wyatt Lenger and Garrett Lenger and her brother Arthur Slavin.
