Barbie Hemphill

Barbie Hemphill, 67, of San Antonio, Texas, died October 8, 2012 surrounded by her family. Barbie was born July 8th, 1945 in San Antonio to Chestney and Evelyn Bernhard. A lover of life and its pursuits, she extracted every ounce of experience and fulfillment offered. She raised two boys, Chris and Greg, for which she attended every social or sporting engagement. She did crafts with friends, rode motorcycles, loved to fish and hunt with her mom and dad, enjoyed to water and snow ski, as well as many other adventures. In her later years she found fun in Sunday lunch with friends, traveling (loved to cruise, especially to Alaska), breakfast for supper, playing with her dog Bitsy, and the exploits of her two grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons Chris and Greg, Greg’s wife Missy, her two grandchildren Travis and Taylor, and her dog Bitsy from whom she obtained so much pleasure. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Visitation will be from 2-3:00 pm on Thursday, October 11th, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
