Bernice West

Bernice Adele West of San Antonio, Tx went home to be with her Lord on Monday May 29, 2017 at 86 yrs old. She was born in Staples Texas to Terry and Otilia Munk. Bernice loved to serve the lord, spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was an adventurous, unique and caring woman who touched the lives of all that knew her. She had the most infectious smile and loved life. She always enjoyed being outdoors; her green thumb made her the perfect gardener. If you came to visit her you would never leave hungry she loved to cook and sit around the table and chat. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading the paper. Bernice will be missed but never forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond Drury West and oldest son Thomas Ray West. She is survived by her three children Anna Adele Signore and husband David of Grenada, Ms., Mary Ellen Garrison and husband Terry of Lott, Tx and son James Drury West and wife Diana of San Antonio, Tx. Eight grandchildren, Melanie, David, Nita, Thomas (TJ), Matthew, James(JD), Daniel and Tom 2, Twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the Senior Care of Windcrest in San Antonio for the excellent care given to their mother, this was truly her home for the past three years and the caring staff was like her extended family. This facility really cares, we thank you. Also to the Grace Hospice team of San Antonio, you all were truly born to do this job shown by the care you provide.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 6p-8p at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
