On January 9, 2022 Bess Louise Gibson Clark entered fully into the presence of the Lord at the age of 82. Bess was born December 10, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana to William Ernest Gibson, Sr. and Letty Alma Gibson. She was the youngest of five children, including her twin brother Wlliam E Gibson, Jr., Marilyn Gibson Jones, Letty Gibson Maloney and Carolyn Gibson Figueroa. The family moved to San Antonio, Texas when she was a young child where she remained until her death. This is where she married Buddy, her husband of 59 years, and together they raised their three children to achieve strong, accomplished professional careers.
Our beautiful mother was known for the ease with which she could talk to and befriend anyone she met. She was a kind and generous person loved by so many. As a young woman she tested the waters in beauty pageants and won the honor of “Miss Beautify San Antonio”. If you knew or met her you would immediately see the priority she placed on fashion. She loved her clothes and, especially her shoes. In the words of her sister Letty, she always looked “cute as a button”.
She made her career managing the office of many San Antonio physicians. She was well known in the larger medical community for her expertise in billing and collection of medical services. She held a long and successful position as office manager of Armadillo Anesthesia, Inc. As this position ended, she determined to put her entrepreneurial spirit to work. In 1985 she opened and served as President of Billing & Collection Concepts, Inc (B.C.C., Inc.). Over time, B.C.C, Inc. served at least 100 physicians who held great respect for Bess and her ability to keep up to date in an everchanging regulatory arena. She retired from B.C.C., Inc. in 2000 to spend time with her husband and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry (Buddy) E. Clark, Jr., father William E. Gibson, mother Letty A. Gibson, sisters Letty G. Maloney, Marilyn G. Jones. Survived by sister Carolyn Figueroa, twin brother William E. Gibson, Jr and wife Kahala Ann Gibson, adult children Donna Clark Stutes, Patricia (Trish) A. Mosier and husband Chester (Chip) Mosier, Thomas (Tommy) W. Clark and wife Christine (Christy) Clark; grandchildren Scott J. Stutes, Amber L. Stutes, C. Nicole Stutes, Casi L. Kelly and husband Travis Kelly, Cody G. Clark and wife Jessica R. Clark, Ryan E. Clark and wife Sarah Clark, Cami Mosier, Raegan Clark and Austin W. Services will be held January 24, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Park 1709 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Tx. 78218. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am with a celebration of her life at 11:00am. A brief graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers the family offers a suggested donation to the American Diabetes Association.
