Very early in life “Tina’s” academic and leadership abilities were recognized. The recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships, she received a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Drake University and went on to complete a rigorous three-year program at the University of Kansas and received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.). In addition, she held a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
After completing her graduate studies, Bettina worked in several capacities across the country that include Product Manager and Senior Business Analyst at Velocity Global, Senior Business Analyst for the City of San Antonio’s Aviation Department, and as a Senior Business Systems Analyst at Capital Group. Her leadership roles included Regional Manager for the Call Center at Clarke American, Bettina’s efforts At Checks in the Mail’s call center, and as Solution Delivery Assurance-Retail Channels’ Director. Continuing to strive for excellence, she became a published author, and she was recognized nationally by Black Enterprise in The Journey of Franchisee Bettina McGriggler: A Story of ‘Firsts,’ by Nancy Williams in 2017.
As a devoted daughter and the eldest cousin, Bettina’s attributes of altruism and compassion were cultivated early and greatly benefited her family and those around her throughout her life. This was especially evident with her passion and love for animals, and as a Franchise Owner at SYNERGY HomeCare. Since 2013, Bettina and her dedicated team have provided opportunities for individuals to receive quality non-medical services at home whether it was on a short-term basis, or near the end of life. Under her leadership, SYNERGY HomeCare of San Antonio has received accolades such as the Provider of Choice and Employer of Choice by Home Care Pulse, and the Caring Stars Award winner from Caring.com. Bettina’s commitment and service also extended to her Christian community. While at the Resurrection Baptist Church, she was active in a variety of ministries until her relocation to New Braunfels.
Bettina was preceded in death by her parents, life partner Donald Young, Aunt Joann S. Harris, Uncle Robert A. Harper, and cousin, Robert H. Harper. She is survived by her Aunt Doris J. Blakley, Uncle Dr. Jasper W. Harris, cousins and extended family, as well as friends.
Her family will be forever grateful for the SYNERGY HomeCare family and friends who visited and prayed for Bettina during her illness, as well as her medical providers and care team.
