

It is with great sadness that Billy Ray Barrett died unexpectedly on April 11, 2022, at home with his beloved wife Monica Barrett by his side. He was 54. Billy was born on August 13, 1968 in Irvine, Kentucky, to parents, Darvel and Ruby Barrett. He graduated from Lee County High School Class of 1986. Billy served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired as a a Tech Seargent. It was during his military service where he met and married Monica and became a resident of San Antonio, Texas. He served in Desert Storm and was awarded many medals throughout his career to include being a recipient of the Southwest Asia Service Medal Award, Kosovo. While serving, Billy was deployed to many stations during his military career. He was an avid lover of music. He played the bass guitar and enjoyed listening and playing 80's and progressive rock music. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Russell Paul. Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Barrett; fur babies, Petra Barrett and Jael Barrett; brothers, Lawrence Barrett, Tommy Joe Barrett and his wife Barbara Barrett. Though he was only on earth for a short time, he is remembered and loved everyday by his family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
